Office 2003 Disable Activation Wizard
I can't activate MS Office 2003 for a customer. Every time they open an Office app they are asked to activate. Every time I try to activate I get the following message: The Activation wizard unable to find a connection to the internet. Please make sure that your connection is working properly and then retry activation in a few minutes.
There is not a connection problem. I can get to the web using Firefox and IE using either the wireless card or the network cable. I have tried disabling the wireless connection and then disabling the NIC, and then having them both enabled.
Same message. Tomnj2005, I had this happen once before.

It was a problem on the MS registration site which is a back-end server you can not test with a browser. It was down for almost 48 hours when they released the Office 2007 beta. There were TONS of posts on the MS forums about it that day or two, so check around there and see if you can confirm.
This is likely the same problem. If it has only been one day, I would give it a day or two and see if it works then.
I know that is annoying for your client, but if that is the problem, there is nothing you can do but wait.

Boot the computer, then start any one of the Office apps using 'Run As Admin' FYI: for this situation, you can consider Vista and Win7 to be essentially interchangeable with only minor differences between the user interface in the 2 versions. In Win7, even when you are logged in as administrator, UAC no longer gives you “Full” administrator rights.
