The May issue of 's B's-Log game magazine announced on Saturday that 's Alice in the Country of Hearts ( ) fantasy romance adventure game is being adapted into a theatrical anime film. The game for female players ( otome game) re-imagines 's classic fantasy novel Alice's Adventures in with characters.

(The game's Japanese title is a wordplay on that novel's Japanese title, except it replaces 'Fushigi/Wonder' with 'Heart.' ) The game first shipped for Windows in 2007, and the company ported it to the PlayStation 2 game console in 2008 with new computer graphics and new story elements. ( Prototype's PSP version followed in 2009.) Two more games called (Alice in the Country of Clovers) (Alice in the Country of the Joker) debuted in 2007 and 2009, respectively. An original video anime adaptation was already in 2008, but it has been since that year. Adapted the game into a manga in 's magazine last September, and the fifth manga volume in North America last November.

Image © QuinRose Update: to QuinRose, the film will feature an original story with the motif of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The developer says that people who played the game, and people who have not, can both watch the film. Is launching a new manga series called Joker no Kuni no Alice Circus to Usotsuki Game (Alice in the Country of the Joker: The Circus and the Lying Game) in the June issue of magazine on April 28. Update 2: The film will open on July 30 in seven Japanese cities.
